These two beautiful humans, Dan and Su, got married at one of my very favorite venues, Riverside on the Potomac earlier this spring. They were my first wedding back after my maternity leave with our little Finn, but I wouldn’t have missed out on their wedding. We had so much fun planning and designing every colorful and creative detail.
Dan and Su had actually already tied the knot just before they hired me; they had eloped in Maine, with a small ceremony just in front of their immediate family. They decided that they wanted to celebrate by having a larger event that was infused with both Su and Dan’s heritage. In fact, many of Su’s family flew in from India to join them for their beautiful day.
To embrace Sudha’s culture, we played up some traditional Indian details and we were not shy about using bold pops of colors. As a result, we teamed up with Cedar & Lime Collective to bring their vivid wedding florals to life. We elevated the neutral design bases by using corals, pinks, oranges and yellows, while balancing everything by using greenery and peppering in blue to highlight Su’s sari.
We also incorporated a beautiful blended ceremony, highlighting Indian and American tradition and cultures. While Riverside on the Potomac is a historical Virginia venue, it’s charmingly warm and welcoming feel helped all of Su and Dan’s guests feel right at home.
It was really important to Dan and Su their dinner menu was just perfect. So we teamed up with the amazing Purple Onion Catering, in addition with Godavari Restaurant to balance a perfect fusion of American and South Indian cuisines for their guests.
As a sweet treat to accompany their stunning, floral adorned cake, Purple Onion Catering served the most adorable mango lassi shooters. These cooling mango-yogurt smoothies were passed as a late night snack to ring it in.
Working with Dan and Su was an incredible experience. Not only were they an amazing couple, they were down-to-earth, kind, loving and pleasantly excited to say their “I Dos”once more. I am so thankful to have worked with them on their Riverside on the Potomac wedding.
Lovely inside out, I wish that there were more Dans and Sudhas in the world. They made wedding planning so much fun!
